Welcome
Valle del Sol Golden Retriever Club was established in 1972 by a group of Golden Retriever owners and enthusiasts who came together in order to pursue ways of promoting and enjoying their Golden Retrievers.

Membership is composed of conformation, obedience, field, agility, rally and tracking exhibitors as well as breeders and pet owners-people just like you, who are interested in preserving the standard and special qualities of the Golden Retriever.

VDSGRC is licensed to conduct Sanctioned Specialty Matches, Specialty Shows, Field Events, and Obedience Events under the rules of the American Kennel Club.

We would like to invite you to attend our meetings, participate, and share in your love of the Golden Retriever.

VDSGRC holds its meetings on the fourth Tuesday of the month.  Meetings are held at locations throughout the valley.

What we do ~
Conformation:

Many of our members enjoy showing their dogs in Conformation. In conformation the dog is judged based on how closely they match the breed standard. If you are interested we can help you get started!
Obedience:

Sure, your dog can sit but can they lie down, come, stay, heel ( without a leash ) well then you'll be ready to try your hand in obedience. We have members who can teach you how to turn your Golden into solid gold !

Rally:

Do you like the idea of working with your dog but not quite ready to be off-leash? Rally is a place where you and your dog can get your feet wet, working in tandem through various exercises. You can progress to 3 different levels.

Agility:

Our members also compete in agility.
In Agility you guide your dog through a series of obstacles at very high speed.
it is a true team sport.

Hunting:

Although the Golden Retriever is a wonderful family pet it was originally bred for one purpose, retrieving. If the idea of spending the day out in nature with your best friend appeals to you, ask us how to get started in hunting trials. Your dog may even bring you dinner!
Splash Dog:

Does your dog love to swim, do you like the idea of watching your dog jumping into the water but would rather get a ball back rather than a duck. Splash Dog might be for you. It involves almost no training to get started and can be fun for the entire family.

Tracking:

info coming. . .
Myra Judd's dog Pinky with a Child at Phoenix Children's Hospital.
Upcoming Events:
Welcome to Valle del Sol
Valle del Sol
Our normal meetings are the 4th Tuesday of each month.
Come enjoy our next meeting!
Pet Therapy:

All golden retrievers have the potential for love but many can take it a step further. Our members visit many facilities sharing the love of Goldens with those who need it the most.  Two of our members volunteer with the
Animal Assisted Therapy Program at Phoenix Children's Hospital.
Our Mission

A. To recognize that the Golden Retriever is a gun dog and to encourage the members to perfect,
by selective breeding, Golden Retrievers that possess the appearance, soundness, temperament,
natural ability and personality that is reflected in the standard of the breed, and to do all possible to
advance and promote the perfection of these qualities.

B. To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the AKC as
the only standard of excellence by which Golden Retrievers shall be judged.

C. To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by promoting responsible ownership of Golden Retrievers and encouraging sportsmanlike competition at competitive and performance events.

D. To encourage and conduct sanctioned matches, licensed specialty shows, obedience trials, and tracking and hunting events tests and WC/WCX tests under the rules of the AKC and/or guidelines of the Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA).
